Time’s Deficiency

And by the end

our expired hopes

had us dancing like children

over decaying sea shells.

Our shrieks crackled

in broken echoes

screeching like thunder

upon a broken sky.

The tender sweet aggression

of lust threw riddles down our spines.

Vertebrae writhing in pain

camouflaged as the victory dance

of a retired dreamer.
