Bliss
Did they ever tell you
To paint outside of your smile lines,
Tuck into the worry creases
That tell stories of what we don’t talk about.
Whose first and last words were mere noises
That sounded like the ocean crashing,
We tried to float away and got ejected back to the shore.
I imagine bliss pays rent to the abyss,
Never confident enough to make a commitment to buy,
Never silly enough to owe debt
To the structures that house emptiness.
Have you ever laughed inside of a vacant room.
Only for the sounds to bounce off the walls
And laugh back at you.
